Physical Science
Overview
Students learn about physical properties of different materials, and the importance of light, heat, and sound energy to their everyday lives. Students also observe and record changes in the location and motion of objects.
-
(K.5) Properties of Matter
Even in Kindergarten, students should use simple tools to make observations about the properties of objects, including relative size and mass (bigger or smaller and heavier or lighter), shape, color, texture, and changes caused by heating and cooling.
-
(K.6) Force, Motion and Energy
Kindergarten students use all five senses to observe light, heat and sound, as well as the interactions of magnets with various materials. They also observe and describe the position and movement of objects.
