(K.10) Plants and Animals
Overview
Kindergarteners learn key vocabulary used to describe living organisms and learn to sort and group them based on physical characteristics. They also learn about the life cycle of a plant, and how a plant offspring resembles its parents.

(K.10A) Characteristics of Living Things
The student is expected to sort plants and animals into groups based on physical characteristics such as color, size, body covering, or leaf shape.

(K.10B) Plant & Animal Parts
The student is expected to identify parts of plants such as roots, stem, and leaves and parts of animals such as head, eyes, and limbs.

(K.10C) Plant Offspring
The student is expected to identify ways that young plants resemble the parent plant.

(K.10D) Life Cycle of a Plant
The student is expected to observe changes that are part of a simple life cycle of a plant: seed, seedling, plant, flower, and fruit.
