Kindergarten students learn about the Earth’s surface and resources while building a vocabulary to observe and describe the world using their senses. They also look to objects in the sky and learn about recognizable patterns in the natural world.
Students learn about the Earth’s surface and resources by looking at the physical properties of rocks and of water, and by learning the uses of the natural resources of rocks, soil, and water.
By looking at changes in the natural world, students will observe weather changes and recognize patterns in the seasons as well as in the day and the night. Students will also learn about objects in the sky including the Sun and other stars, the Moon, and clouds.
