Overview
The student is expected to differentiate between inherited traits of plants and animals such as spines on a cactus or shape of a beak and learned behaviors such as an animal learning tricks or a child riding a bicycle.

Inherited Traits
Some characteristics of organisms are inherited from their parents. Bird beak shape, for example, is a trait passed from parent to offspring and is an important part for a bird’s survival within their environment. Instinctual behaviors are also inherited from parents.
